WOW air gives up on CPH route

Rivals Icelandair and Iceland Express also fly the route

Iceland’s newly established low-cost carrier WOW air appears to have abandoned its planned winter-season flights on the Reykjavik-Copenhagen route. Longer established local rivals Icelandair and Iceland Express also operate the route. After little more than three months, WOW air has pulled out of the route, on which it offered four return flights a week during the summer. It had planned to reduce this to two per week from September 20 when the influx of tourists is much less. But, according to the winter timetable on its website, the company has decided to withdraw altogether.
From June 1 for much of the summer season, WOW air operated to a total of 13 European destinations. On the schedule from September 20 until the end of May 2013, routes from Reykjavik to Berlin Schoenefeld and London Gatwick (two flights a week each) and weekly or twice-weekly flights to Alicante and Salzburg will be offered throughout the winter.
