North Korea’s Koryo Air takes top spot, followed by… Ryanair
North Korea’s Koryo Air again takes the title of the world’s worst airline, for the fourth year in a row, by airline ratings site and consultancy Skytrax. It is the only carrier listed to get a one-star rating out of five.
The UK-based Skytrax, which bases its ratings on customer reviews, points to Koryo’s poor safety record, Soviet-era planes and basic safety belts as reasons for the lowly rating.
Slightly better are 21 airlines with two stars, a category that Skytrax says shows “a lower quality performance, below the industry quality average across many of the rating sectors.”
Ryanair is one of these. One customer recalls, “In Dublin, when I approached the desk to say that we had our boarding passes on a laptop, the customer service worker starting yelling at us, ‘How am I supposed to stamp your boarding pass if it’s on a device?’”
Other two star-rated airlines include the Bahamas’ Bahamasair, which customer reviews give the airline an average 2/10; Russia’s Rossiya Airlines (“Meal service is the worst in the air”); the USA’s Spirit Airlines (“Everything negative everyone has said about Spirit is true. Spirit ruined my trip with unnecessary stress and anxiety”); Indonesia’s Lion Air; the Czech Republic’s SmartWings; and Pegasus Airlines and Onur Air, both Turkish.

  1. The Ryanair comment is from a customer who has not followed the booking procedure as stated when booking the tickets: Printing out the boarding cards……
The yelling has to be defined, but obviously not necessary if so. It does not reflect that the airline is one of the most important in Europe. ?No other opinions????
