Waiting lists exist to book €57,000 three-room suites
Wealthy passengers are spending massive amounts of cash (or expense accounts) on an increasingly voluptuous range of airline suites, where airfare costs can exceed a year’s salary. MailOnline Travel lists some of the most expensive.
Top of the list is Etihad Airways’ New York-Abu Dhabi service, priced at €57,000. The Residence is a three-room A380 penthouse first launched on the London-Abu Dhabi route with private butler, limousine transfers and closely guarded privacy. It is booked well in advance, and will be rolled out on the New York-Abu Dhabi route in December.
First-class passengers can also fly Emirates between Los Angeles and Dubai for €31,500, with private suite and fully-flat bed, personal minibar, gourmet meals and on-board shower spa. Suites on the San Francisco-Dubai and Houston-Dubai routes sell for almost as much.
Luxury cabins on Cathay Pacific (New York-Hong Kong), Japan Airlines (Tokyo-London), Singapore Airlines (New York-Singapore), Korean Air (New York-Seoul) and Qantas (Melbourne-Los Angeles) are also among the world’s most expensive airfares.
