$1 billion ship has 23 swimming pools and a park
Huge crowds of well-wishers waved farewell to the world’s biggest cruise ship as it left a French shipyard on its maiden voyage after 32 months of construction work.
As the gargantuan $1 billion Harmony of the Seas set sail from Saint-Nazaire, tens of thousands of people lined the portside.
At 362 meters long, the 16-deck vessel is bigger than the Eiffel Tower. It is the widest cruise ship ever built and has room for up to 6,360 passengers. Besides having more than 2,500 staterooms, this floating city contains 20 dining venues, 23 swimming pools and a park with over 10,000 plants and 50 trees.
Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas is expected in Southampton on Tuesday, before beginning its inaugural voyage to Barcelona on May 22.
