Free Wi-Fi almost as important as quality of room
Free Wi-Fi is almost as important for business travellers as the quality of the suite or room, a new survey says.
Choice Hotels’ Road Warrior Survey shows that 73% of business travellers value location when selecting a hotel, followed by room value at 61%. Free Wi-Fi ranks third on the list at 55%.
The survey found that 84% of business travellers prefer to work in their hotel room, compared with just 4% who prefer the lobby and 10% who prefer to work in the hotel business centre.
“It’s crucial that hotels cater to travellers’ business needs and provide them with as many conveniences as possible,” said Robert McDowell, Choice Hotels’ senior vice president for marketing and distribution.
Other findings from the survey include : 76% book hotel reservations online; 59% want express check-in and checkout; 60% have used a smartphone or tablet to check in; 55% expect HDTV in their hotel room; 61% use their in-room coffee maker; 30% count on an ergonomic desk chair in their hotel room; 48% need access to a printer when traveling for business.
The survey was conducted by research company Newlio among 525 US adults who have taken one or more overnight business trips in the past year.
