Americans prefer air travel over cruising, survey says
Recent incidents on cruise lines appear to have negatively affected public opinion this year. A Harris Interactive poll in May of more than 2,000 adults in the USA concluded that consumer perceptions of cruise lines have deteriorated since the beginning of the year, especially among those who have not cruised in the past.
Americans now prefer air travel over cruising, the survey says, with 62% of respondents thinking that air travel is more reliable than taking a cruise and 56% saying that air travel is safer than cruising.
As a consequence, the investor blog network The Motley Fool assumes that there are better opportunities to invest in airlines like US Airways, Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways than in cruise companies.
