Officials say the stunt “violated local aviation regulations”

Officials in Vietnam have fined the local low-cost carrier VietJetAir for a publicity stunt involving beauty contest participants dance on an aircraft in bikini tops “without authorisation”. According to the BBC, the airline was fined the equivalent of around €770,000 for hosting a Hawaii-themed dance on its inaugural flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang. Vietnamese officials said the event “violated local aviation regulations”.
Passengers enjoyed the show, however, with some of them filming it on their smartphones and uploading them onto YouTube. As VietJetAir itself described the occasion: “The holiday atmosphere began once passengers step on board with flight attendants dressed in beach holiday attire and performed sexy Hawaii dance.”
