Arrivals to the US from both Sweden and Denmark are increasing rapidly this year.

Visits increased in July from 17 Western European markets, according to the US Department of Commerce, with Denmark seeing one of the biggest rises, up by 21% on the same month in 2009. Of the other top 10 markets that registered increases in July, France increased by 22%, Italy increased by 19%, Germany by 8% and the Netherlands by 13%. Sweden, meanwhile, was one of 12 markets in the top 20 supplying arrivals to the US with double-digit increase over the first seven months of 2010.

Approximately 33.8 million international visitors travelled to the United States in the first seven months of the year, a 12% increase on the same period in 2009, spending $76.7 billion while they were in the country. July itself saw the US welcome 6.3 million international visitors, an increase of 15% from July 2009 and the 10th month of increases in a row. Only three of the top 20 markets posted decreases in visitation to the US between January and July, namely the United Kingdom, Venezuela and Ireland.
