University of Copenhagen moves up on Shanghai ranking again

The University of Copenhagen (KU) has been ranked the second best university in continental Europe by the 2016 Shanghai ranking, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).
The ranking placed KU in 30th place globally, eleven places behind the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, the top ranked university in continental Europe.
It’s the fifth consecutive year that KU has moved up the Shanghai rankings, where it was ranked 44th overall in 2012. Last year the university was ranked 35th.

Copenhagen is located in a major knowledge area with 10 universities, 165.000 students and 16.000 scientist and researchers including the University of Lund who ranked 101-150 on the list.
Due to compulsory free schooling and universities, Danes are among the world’s most educated people. This tradition for education has also had a positive impact on the meetings industry, which offers much more than merely logistical solutions.
Danes are highly skilled in foreign languages, 86% of the workforce speaks English, but it’s also quite common for Danes to know German (47 %), French, Spanish and other languages too.
Last year, Copenhagen was also awarded the most punctual city according to the Air Travel Intelligence Company OAG’s report, Punctuality League 2015, which monitors the performance of airlines and airports.
