Area to have “solutions for resting and short-time sleeping”
A unique new “Relaxation Area” will be opened at Helsinki Airport in September. It will feature “three different solutions for resting and short-time sleeping”, according to the city-owned development company Vantaa Innovation Institute, the project’s designers.
The area, to be located in Terminal 2 close to gate 31, will be “a calm and peaceful space” where passengers can relax, rest and doze. The options include a “silent chair” and, for an hourly fee, a small sleeping pod or tube.
The whole atmosphere, including the acoustic walls and ceilings, will reflect Finnish culture and nature, such as ice and the Northern Lights.
