Norwegian Seaways announced link in November 2013
Plans to restart a ferry between Stavanger, Bergen and Newcastle have been postponed indefinitely. The previously given start date of April 14 will not now be met, sources close to the company preparing the ferry link say.
Norwegian Seaways, based in Essex in the UK, announced plans to restart the line in November last year.
“Norway is a wonderful destination for Brits,” Norwegian Seaways CCO Peter Iles said at the time. “We will cooperate with the Norwegian tourism authorities to extend the season. We aim to launch Norway as a destination for skiers.”
But online news site The Foreigner reported on Friday that its sources believed the April 2014 deadline would not be met and could not confirm a new date. Media reports earlier this year claimed that Norwegian Seaways had not yet raised enough funds to set a start date for the service.
