Series of big new theme parks to boost leisure market
The United Arab Emirates will have 90% of the leisure tourism market in the Middle East by 2020, according to new research by Team Leisure released ahead of the Leisure Show Dubai 2016.
“The UAE is just about to take a huge step on to the world leisure stage with some 10-15 major leisure attractions due to open in 2016 and many more in the pipeline,” Phil Taylor, director of Team Leisure, explained.
“This is the next big step in the UAE’s tourism strategy and the single biggest driver of growth in the hotel market for the next five years.”
In 2016 alone, major new theme parks and attractions are due to open including IMG Worlds of Adventure (August); Motion Gate, Bollywood and Legoland at Dubai Parks and Resorts (October), all in Dubai; the Louvre Abu Dhabi; and safari parks in both Dubai and Al Ain.
On the second day of the annual Vision Conference, which is part of the Leisure Show (September 17-19), Team Leisure will host a presentation entitled ‘UAE Theme Park Tourism: success factor insights from Gold Coast, Singapore, Orlando’.
