Ordu-Giresun Airport has runway built on man-made island
With a 3,000-metre runway built on an artificial island, Ordu-Giresun Airport on Turkey’s Black Sea coast is expanding from purely domestic flights to also welcoming direct services from Germany.
Opening in May 2015 between the towns of Ordu and Giresun, it is handling over a million passengers this year.
Mainly routes are to Ankara and Istanbul. But Eurowings and Pegasus both now make weekly flights to Cologne Bonn.
Turkish Airlines flies weekly to Berlin Tegel, and SunExpress operates other flights westwards. Some of these are seasonal services. In addition, Pegasus flies three times weekly to Ercan in northern Cyprus.
