Tui Group now has 70 orders for 737 MAX, three for 787-9
Tour operator giant Tui has ordered 11 new aircraft at a cost of $1.4 billion. It also says it will increase its long-haul offers by 20% from the forthcoming winter season and summer 2017.
The order is for 10 Boeing 737 MAX 8s and one 787-9 Dreamliner, as well as an option for one additional 787-9. With this, Tui Group now has three orders for 787-9s and 70 for the 737 MAX.
“We are committed to investing in our aircraft fleet in order to keep improving our customers’ experience and to grow ahead of the market,” said David Burling, executive board member with responsibility for Tui Group Airlines.
“This includes the expansion of our long-haul holiday program and providing more choice of flight times and durations to new destinations.
Also this week, speaking at a launch event for the summer 2017 season, Tui UK & Ireland managing director Nick Longman said destinations including New York, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Cape Town are some of the new product for this coming winter season.
The Maldives are also being introduced to winter 2016, while Dubai and Miami will be on the books for summer 2017.
Closer destinations like Nice, Murcia, Corsica and Kalamata are also being added, along with additional seats to the Balearics.
