Accor to make internet usage free at all Asia-Pacific hotels

In response to the results of a business traveller survey, Accor is planning to provide free internet access across all its hotel brands and properties in the Asia-Pacific region by the end of 2012. The Accor Asia Pacific Business Traveller Survey 2012 found that free connectivity had become a key influencer on business travellers’ choice of hotel, with exactly half of respondents rating it among the most important factors. Respondents from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand all rated this as the main factor influencing choice of accommodation.
The survey found that travellers from Australia and New Zealand put location first, people from China prize loyalty rewards and travellers from India value price. But Accor decided that free internet connectivity had suddenly become a crucial factor, especially as it did not even figure in last year’s survey.
