International traffic increased by 10% in November
Passenger growth at Sweden’s ten airports operated by Swedavia continues. International traffic increased by a full 10% during November, year-on-year (1,938,000), though there was no change in domestic traffic (1,262,000), to reach a total for the month of 3,201,000.
Passenger volume in European traffic increased by 9%, while traffic to and from the rest of the world increased by 12%.
This means a total of 36,515,000 passengers flew to or from the airports in the January-November period, a rise of 1.6 million passengers (5%) compared to the same period last year.
So far this year, there has been an increase in both international (+6%) and domestic (+3%) passenger volumes. Some 23,888,000 people flew internationally and 12,626,000 flew domestically during the first eleven months.
At Stockholm Arlanda, passenger volume increased 9% in November, with international passengers up 11%, domestic up 7%. So far this year, 22,819,000 passengers have flown to or from Stockholm Arlanda, up 6% year-on-year.
Göteborg Landvetter saw a 4% rise in passenger volume in November to reach 5,921,000 for the first 11 months of the year.
However, Stockholm Bromma saw a decline in November, down 6%, while volume so far in 2016 is unchanged (2,311,000). The decline there is due to two events, Swedavia says: the autumn school holidays falling entirely in November and the winter weather causing traffic problems over two days.
Kiruna Airport showed the greatest growth in November, 15% more than the same month last year, reaching 18,400.
