“Keep in touch with your tour operator or airline”
Travel to, from or within Spain, Portugal, Greece and the Canary Islands may be hit tomorrow by a general strike. Some airlines are already cancelling some flights. The general strike is being called by the European Trade Union Confederation. Airlines such as British Airways say they expect delays or cancellations, while others such as easyJet have cancelled several flights to Spain and changed departure times for services to Greece. easyJet itself has axed 30 flights to or from Spain and altered the times for 10 flights to Greece.
Foreign ministries are warning their citizens to expect disruption at Spanish airports and on public transport. “Check for transport delays before arriving in Spain and allow extra time for journeys,” the UK’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office says. “If you are travelling on that day (or on the days before or after November 14), you should keep in touch with your tour operator or airline.”
