Crime in north Sinai area prompts UK to change its travel advice
Parts of Egypt have seen an upsurge in criminal activity recently, including the kidnapping of two US tourists while on a tour of Sinai earlier this month. This criminal activity in the north Sinai area has prompted the British Foreign Office to change its travel advice, warning against all but essential travel to Sinai north of the Suez-Taba road. However, it does not apply to the towns of Suez or Taba.
The travel advice also says that protestors currently remain in Cairo’s Tahrir Square and warns that demonstrations are still frequent in Cairo and other cities such as Alexandria.
