Land and air connections add to Thai-Laos tourism links
A number of new ways to help tourists travel between Thailand and neighbouring Laos are being implemented this year. This month the domestic Thai low-cost carrier Nok Air set up what it calls a new “Fly ‘n’ Ride” service from Bangkok to Vientiane. Travellers fly from Bangkok to Udon Thani, then travel by coach to the Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge at Nong Khai where they are taken through immigration before boarding a second bus to Vientiane. Nok Air’s all-inclusive online fare for the trip is 3,200 baht (€79) per person, representing a big saving on existing connections.
Meanwhile, a new direct air-conditioned bus service is planned to connect Udon Thani and Vang Vieng in Laos, courtesy of the Thai coach operator The Transport Company.
