Training and employment get new hall at ITB

Wide-ranging program for future employees in tourism

Visitors interested in a career in tourism may get a boost for their job prospects at next year’s ITB Berlin. Information on vocational training and advanced training opportunities will be available as Training & Employment in Tourism moves from Hall 5.1 to Hall 11.1.

The organisers say that visitors can expect a wide-ranging program tailored to the needs of young tourism professionals. International exhibitors will be presenting details of training courses, for example.

Personnel managers from leading tourism companies will have information on starting a career and the necessary qualifications in order to apply.

An ITB Job Exchange will serve as a meeting place for newcomers and those already working in hospitality, restaurants, catering and tourism. Visitors can find out about job vacancies and meet directly with personnel managers.

“The position of Hall 11.1 in a central location between the Radio Tower and the Summer Garden means we can expect even more visitors than usual,” David Ruetz, head of ITB Berlin, said. “The current lack of young professionals and qualified employees is one of the most pressing issues in the tourism industry.”

ITB Berlin 2014 will take place from March 5 to 9. From the Wednesday to the Friday it is open to trade visitors only. The ITB Berlin Convention, billed as the world’s largest specialist convention for the industry, is held in parallel with the trade fair on March 5-7.
