Tour operator sorry for angry emails

TUI-owned Thomson apologises after abusive mails

TUI-owned UK tour operator Thomson has had to apologise to a customer who was sent angry emails by an employee, who has since been sacked. The client, named Gemma Fish, had complained about the standard of accommodation she’d been given on a £3,000 (€3,700) holiday to Mexico. She complained via email and also rang the operator’s 24-hour hotline. She then received a series of abusive emails, one of which suggested she should book a holiday instead with rival Thomas Cook.
Police are investigating the “isolated incident” and the staff member has been dismissed, Thomson said, adding: “We are currently in discussions with Ms Fish about a replacement holiday or a full refund.”
