Nordic Bar, Nordic Bakery, Scandinavian Kitchen
With around 60,000 Swedes living in London, there are many Nordic things to do in the British capital, mostly involving food and drink. Scandinavia is in fashion in the UK, mostly thanks to exemplary Nordic crime thrillers. For visiting tourists, The Local presents a list of top experiences for people far from home.
Among the places listed, Fika, a bar and grill restaurant in Shoreditch, has a “relaxed and friendly atmosphere with some classic Swedish recipes”. The Nordic Bar near Oxford Street, meanwhile, is known for its “vast array of vodkas” and can be busy at weekends despite being in a cellar. The Scandinavian Kitchen near Oxford Circus is one of London’s best-known Nordic restaurants, while the Nordic Bakery has three outlets in central London, and the Harcourt Arms in Marylebone is London’s only dedicated Swedish pub.
