Tibet to get new theme park attraction

Aim is to highlight peace between the two nations

China is planning a huge theme park, already under construction on the outskirts of the Tibetan capital Lhasa, reported to occupy an area of more than eight square kilometres. At its heart will be live performances based on the life of Princess Wencheng, the niece of a Tang Dynasty emperor who according to some historians married a Tibetan King to establish peace between the two nations. She is popularly known in Tibet as Gyasa, or “Chinese wife”. This attraction will be part of the China Tibet Culture & Tourism Creative Park, the development of which will comprise a number of themed districts.
The $4.7 billion project is scheduled for completion within five years. So far, 13 companies have come forward to contribute a third of this sum.
