Thrones star in Visit Greenland film

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau works with Greenland tourism, Google
One of TV’s most recognisable actors, Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, has teamed up with Visit Greenland and Google to record images of southern Greenland.
The Danish actor has a camera strapped on his back in a newly released video documenting conditions in Greenland related to the country’s changing landscape and also Google’s online mapping service.
Coster-Waldau has a Greenlandic wife, actress Nukâka Coster-Waldau, and the couple own a house in the village of Igaliku, which he considers a second home.
“Greenland is a big part of our family,” he says. “We’ve been visiting Igaliku for the past 20 years, where we spend time with family and friends. It’s a joy to be able to let people know that Greenland is a place worth visiting.”
In the film, Coster-Waldau carries one of Google’s 360° Trekker cameras on his back, explores the area on an all-terrain vehicle, on horseback and by boat, and takes a dip in Uunartoq, a hot spring.
The recording was sponsored by Visit Greenland. Coster-Waldau is also a UN goodwill ambassador.
“It’s an easy way to give people an idea of how climate change is affecting Greenland, and just the country in general,” he says.
