Meanwhile, Norwegian closes Boston, opens Vegas
Norway’s Consumer Council says compensation will be given to at least 5,000 Norwegian passengers for the airline’s cancelled flights during the summer.
The council said the customers could claim their payments back after the carrier experienced logistical problems last month combined with the air traffic control strikes in France.
Passengers hit by the cancellations are entitled to up to €600 in compensation, depending on the length of the cancelled flights.
“It applies, of course, to those who are entitled to compensation from us as a result of this summer cancellations and extended delays,” Norwegian’s communications director Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen told the website E24.no.
Meanwhile, Norwegian will close its Boston routes from Oslo and Copenhagen in winter and instead open a route between Oslo and Las Vegas from November 1.
Boston was only a seasonal route, the carrier explains, though the Copenhagen Airport website had allegedly said the Copenhagen-Boston route was year-round. SAS operates a year-round Copenhagen-Boston service.
