Power outage on rail system strands 3,000 passengers

A major power outage on southern Sweden’s rail network last night stopped all traffic between the towns of Höör and Hässleholm, leaving passengers around 3,000 people stranded. Many passengers complained about a lack of information from the Swedish national rail company SJ.
“We were stuck for five hours and were told nothing,” one passenger told the newspaper Dagens Nyheter. “First everyone was angry. Then they went quiet. Now we are mainly tired.”
But SJ said they were doing all they could. According to the company, the disruption occurred when a power line fell, affecting around 15 trains. Passengers were eventually taken by bus to either of the two towns. However, delays are expected to continue today.
