(12/05/2015) The fifth Europe Senior Tourism season for Europeans over 55 started on 1 October 2014. Thousands of seniors from several countries – Czech Republic, Slovakia, UK, Italy and Bulgaria, for example – have already enjoyed this programme.
The 2014-2015 season offers several new features, like the wide range of destinations available – more than 30 on the islands, the Mediterranean coast, the north coast and the interior. The number of outbound markets has also been increased this year, so that residents over 55 from any country in the European Union (except Spain) can take part in the programme.
Europe Senior Tourism is a pioneering project worldwide organising partially subsidised trips to Spain for European citizens over 55 during the mid and low season. The aims are to reinvigorate the economy outside the summer season, and to improve active employment policies, while contributing to active ageing and furthering the concept of European Citizenship.
