Packages to Tunisia are back on sale from today
Three years after the beach massacre in Sousse, tour operator giant Thomas Cook has put holidays to Tunisia on sale again, to start on 13 February 2018.
Thomas Cook first opened an office in Tunisia in 1902. It will return there by offering an initially small program of package holidays from early next year. It is the first mass-market operator to place its trust once again in Tunisia.
After the attack by a lone gunman, European governments put the North African nation on the no-go list in their travel advice. That has changed, although the UK’s advice still warns that “terrorists are still very likely to try to carry out attacks in Tunisia”.
The first flights will be three per week, from the UK (London Gatwick, Birmingham and Manchester), to six hotels mainly in the Hammamet area on Tunisia’s east coast, as well as flight-only deals. That will rise to seven flights a day and eight hotels for the summer from May. It contrasts with 35 flights a week before the attack.
