Travel agents are seizing opportunity to book more cruises

A growing trend for themed cruises is helping travel agents sell more cruises by tempting enthusiasts of anything ranging from dancing to poker. Cruise lines, tour operators and organisations specialising in different interests are all organising cruises for an increasing variety of passions, such as annual chocolate cruises, zumba dance cruises, cruises for religion and prayer, heavy metal cruises, wine cruises and foody cruises. The vast majority of these can be booked by travel agents.
Greater awareness that cruises are not just for older people but for individuals, couples and families means that “the timing to capitalise on this trend has never been better”, according to Jo Kling, an expert on events and special-interest cruises at sea.
