Airline wins traffic increase during high season
Thai Airways posted a 58% rise in net profit for the first quarter of 2013, reaching THB8.28 billion ($281 million). It explained the result by pointing to a boost in passenger numbers during the high season. It also said there were foreign-exchange gains.
Thai Airways continues to battle tough regional competition from bigger rivals, such as Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways, but is enjoying rising travel demand as it shifts its focus from Europe to high-growth markets in Asia.
