The French Open, one of Europe’s biggest annual sporting events, returns to Paris on Sunday May 27th.
International tennis stars such as Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams will travel to the French capital’s famous Roland Garros stadium for the tournament, which is the second Grand Slam of the season.
Nadal has dominated the clay court event in recent years, claiming the title a joint-record six times since 2005.
However, Djokovic has recently established himself as the top player in men’s tennis and will be hopeful of tasting victory at the only major tournament he is yet to win.
Roger Federer, the 2009 French Open champion, has been in good form lately and underlined his credentials with victory at the Madrid Open.
The women’s tournament should also be a highly competitive affair, with 2011 champion Li Na of China aiming to defend her crown against the likes of Williams and Victoria Azarenka.
Advance tickets for the French Open vary in price and fans can book online after completing the registration process. On the final days (Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th), a giant screen will broadcast the action from inside the stadium for those who cannot get a ticket for Court Philippe Chatrier.
