Tallink quarterly result reveals 23% more pax

Estonian company carries almost two million passengers Dec-Feb

The ferry company Tallink Grupp has revealed that it transported almost two million passengers during the second quarter of its financial year, from December to February, which amounts to a 23% increase on the same quarter the previous year.
The Estonian company carried 1 999 313 passengers during the quarter, the biggest proportion of whom travelled between Helsinki and Tallinn (911 518, up 24%). Tallink, which operates under the brands Tallink and Silja Line on seven shipping lines across the Baltic Sea, also transported 146 383 passengers (+45%) on its line between Latvia and Sweden, 228 957 (+45%) between Estonia-Sweden and 709 448 (+13%) between Finland and Sweden. Between Finland and Germany the number of passengers decreased by 24% due to there being no traffic on this route during January and February.
The number of passenger vehicles increased by almost 20% during the quarter to 207 042, the number of trucks and trailers by nearly 19% to 64 407 units. In February 2011, Tallink transported 650 072 passengers, up by almost 18% compared to February 2010.
