Sustainability is a very important part of all daily operations at Movenpick Hotel Zurich-Regensdorf, staff members and partners benefit from regular training sessions on responsible practices. “We have to realize that even the small things, easy to do for everyone, bring us closer to a sustainable society. As part of its social responsibility program, the Movenpick Hotel Zurich-Regensdorf works closely with a number of community partners and charitable organizations, such as “Pfuusbus,” dedicated to the care of the homeless. Launched by a local pastor, the Pfuusbus project provides beds, food, and clothing to those in need, especially during the cold winter months. All trainees at the hotel set up a booth at the Christmas Market, selling homemade chocolates, nuts, and bathroom amenities, in support of the good cause.
The Movenpick Hotel Zurich-Regensdorf is actively involved with the Climate Cent Foundation, a voluntary measure of the Swiss industry aimed at efficient climate protection. The foundation invests in projects designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, both in Switzerland and abroad. Emissions reductions are determined following nationally and internationally recognized guidelines, and can be claimed by Switzerland towards the fulfillment of its reduction target.
A long term sustainability management system is in effect at the Movenpick Hotel Zurich-Regensdorf, and over the past five years energy consumption was cut down considerably. External air-conditioning and a heat recovery system reduced the use of heating by 55%. LED lighting and motion sensors are installed throughout the building, and the hotel features its own charge station for electric vehicles. The purchasing policy favors eco-certified products and local suppliers adhering to environmental practices.
