From September 12-18, 5 German and Swiss journalists were on a press trip to Reunion Island. The themes of sport, gastronomy, open air activities, and discovering local produce were on the program created by IRT (Reunion Island Tourism).
Supported by a representative from the Air Austral airline and Marie-Christin Strecker, press assistant at IRT in Germany, the media were able to discover the Reunion Island destination around the themes of sport and gastronomy.
On the program of this press trip were: water tours, paragliding, hiking in Nouvelle in the Cirque de Mafate, a catamaran ride, flying over the island by helicopter, visiting the fairground market of Saint-Paul, discovering the Piton de la Fournaise, visiting Saint-Denis, and cooking lessons in the Villa Maido, etc. An intense program rounded off with a tour of the islands by car during their stay, which allowed them to experience the diversity and numerous riches of Reunion Island.
Enthused by the destination, the journalists left Reunion Island with a concrete vision of what the island has to offer in terms of tourism. In the context of its promotional strategy for the destination in the key Germanic market, IRT achieved its goal.
