Threat of train strike over Midsummer period avoided

People travelling within Sweden over the Midsummer period will be relieved that employers and unions have agreed a new pay deal. The threat of a train strike has been stopped.
“We were very anxious to avoid a conflict,” Jonas Milton of the employer association Almega said. “It would have caused incredible problems for the general public, who would have found it difficult to get to work and to Midsummer celebrations.”
Almega has signed an agreement with the union Seko to raise wages by a cumulative 6.8% over the period until 31 March 2016.
