Just two countries in Europe send more tourists in 2012

The trend is down for incoming tourism in Sweden from traditional markets in western and southern Europe, but tourists from more distant countries such as the US, China and India are giving visitor numbers a much-needed boost. The result is that Swedish tourism is growing overall, by 0.4% in 2012.
Incoming tourism gained from only two markets in Europe – Switzerland and Ireland. Non-European visitors increased by 5.8%, according to overnight stays in Sweden; Chinese by 11.2%; Americans by 6.6%. Visitors from India passed the Japanese to become the third biggest non-European visitor group.
