Revenues at Swedavia increase 5% during 2013
Revenues at the Swedish airport operator Swedavia were up 5% during 2013 to SEK 5,233 million (€587 million), while operating income increased to SEK 946 million.
The company said that the earnings growth was attributable in part to a record number of passengers, but added that acquisitions carried out in the property segment also boosted earnings.
Around 33.5 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s airports in 2013. As a result, passenger numbers rose by 1.1 million compared to the previous record year, 2012. Among the main airports in Scandinavia, passenger volume growth was greatest at Stockholm Arlanda, which had a 5% increase.
“More air connections during the year increased Swedish access and were well received by our passengers,” Torborg Chetkovich, Swedavia’s chief executive, said. “Meanwhile, Swedavia has taken concrete steps to ensure future capacity at its airports, although the environmental permit for Stockholm Arlanda Airport will continue to be a challenge in the coming periods.”
