SuperJet: life in SSJ100 after crash

Russian company says crash “does not alter our belief in the aircraft”

At a press conference at an annual convention held by the Regional Airline Association in Minneapolis this week, representatives of SuperJet International appeared subdued. As previously reported, the crash of a Sukhoi Superjet SSJ100 during a demonstration flight in Indonesia earlier this month killed all 45 people on board. However, the representatives said that the tragedy had not significantly changed plans to manufacture and market the new Russian-built regional aircraft.
Rather than give a briefing on the SSJ program, they instead read a statement by the company’s CEO, Nazario Cauceglia, who expressed sadness but also determination to move forward. “No serious technical issues” had ever arisen before during flights, he said.
