Sukhoi behind new Hungary flag-carrier project

Russian firm would provide finance and new Superjet 100s
Hungary has been without a national airline since flag carrier Malev was grounded in 2012. But now an attempt to launch a new one is in the works – funded by Russian cash.
The country is reported to be in talks with Russian aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi in plans to launch a new airline. Sukhoi would provide financial support as well as six new Superjet 100 aircraft.
Evgeny Andrachnikov, deputy chief executive of Sukhoi’s civilian aircraft production, said that a Hungarian national carrier would be a great opportunity for the Superjet 100 to show its worth.
The privately-owned Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air has successfully filled the void since Malev’s disappearance, steadily increasing its capacity to become the biggest budget airline in Central and Eastern Europe.
