German hotel chain Steigenberger is set to open its first hotel in China on 1 December. The five-star Hotel Maximilian is conveniently located in one of Beijing’s newest business districts, just a 20-minute taxi ride from Beijing Capital International Airport and within walking distance of the nearest subway station.
The hotel features 286 rooms, including 15 suites, an Asian spa with a Jacuzzi, gym, massage and beauty treatments and a large conference area. In addition, the hotel offers four restaurants, with options ranging from sophisticated Chinese cuisine to authentic German Biergarten atmosphere.
The Beijing opening marks the first step in the Steigenberger’s expansion in Asia, and the chain has high expectations for the growing Asian hotel market:
“We are convinced that the Steigenberger quality brand is a good fit for the Chinese market. China is an exciting new market for us, and a focus area for our international strategy. We look forward to building our presence in Asia,” says Karin Gert Nielsen, Managing Director of the Steigenberger Hotel Group in Scandinavia and Finland.
The chain is planning more openings in China over the coming years. The second Chinese Steigenberger hotel is expected to open in Qingdao in late 2015.
