Armed men attack Spanish women after tying up others
Six tourists have been raped where they were staying in small shacks on Playa Bonfil, just south of the Mexican resort of Acapulco, the BBC reports. Armed masked men entered the building at night and attacked the six Spanish women after tying up other people staying there. Police arrived soon after the assault and sealed off the scene. Local tourism officials accompanied the women to the police station.
The incident is “one of the worst cases of sexual violence against tourists in the country in recent years”, the BBC says. Acapulco and the nearby beaches are considered safe for tourists, but violence is common in the state of Guerrero.
