Singapore tourism links with Star Wars

Disney’s first collaboration with national tourism in SE Asia
The Singapore Tourism Board has struck a three-year partnership with Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia, Disney’s first-of-its-kind collaboration with a national tourism body in Southeast Asia. It starts next month with a Star Wars festival.
To be held on May 4-6 at one of the city state’s main attractions, Gardens by the Bay, inbound agents can entice clients to visit Singapore with highlights such as SaberTrees, where the gardens’ iconic Supertrees will be transformed into lightsabers.
The show is billed as Southeast Asia’s largest lightsaber light-up and will be complemented with a “stunning” light and music show.
Other highlights are a Star Wars Run on May 6, which includes a 4.5km fun run and 10km competitive race, and a Star Wars-themed ‘silent disco’ (the music is broadcast via radio transmitter to participants’ wireless headphones) on May 5 and 6.
Agents can look forward to more unique Star Wars experiences for clients in the second half of the year, the board says.
This year is the 40th anniversary of Star Wars. In 2018 and 2019, the themes change first to Marvel and Disney Animation, then to Disney Pixar.
