Singapore Tourism Board spreads awareness through art
Singapore is coming closer than ever before, as a number of the country’s creative talents hit the road with the exhibition Singapore: Inside Out, to be experienced in Beijing, London and New York before returning to Singapore.
Singapore celebrates 50 years of independence this year and in presenting the exhibition the Singapore Tourism Board aims to spread international awareness of the country and its attractions.
“Singapore’s creative talents have some unique approaches to issues, and their works appeal not just to people with knowledge of Singapore’s history but makes an impact worldwide. With the exhibition Singapore: Inside Out, we invite more people to experience the creative side of Singapore,” says Lionel Yeo, the tourism board’s chief executive.
The exhibition reveals a variety of working methods and disciplines, including architecture, design, fashion, cinema, cuisine, music, the literary arts and the visual and performing arts. More than 20 exhibitors use specially designed scaffolding to display their works.
The show has its debut in Beijing in April before travelling to London (Old Truman Brewery, east London, June 24-28) and New York in September. Each exhibition lasts five days, before an extended 10-day exhibition in Singapore (November 27 to December 6).
The 20 exhibitors have been “especially handpicked to create an experiential journey of discovery through which the audience will have the opportunity to experience new perspectives in Singapore and get an insight into the trends that define Singapore’s creative culture,” according to architect Randy Chan.
