Departing passengers to pay total of S$34 from April 2013

Changi International Airport has increased its Passenger Service Charge for departing passengers by S$6.00 (US$4.80), a change that will come into force from 1 April 2013. The new fee of S$19.90 will apply to all airfares booked from November 2012. Taking into account a separate S$8.00 Passenger Security Service Charge and a S$6.10 Aviation Levy imposed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, departing passengers will have to pay a total of S$34 from April.
Changi Airport Group explains the raised fee by saying that it will fund new developments needed to accommodate growing passenger traffic and cover the airport’s escalating operational costs.
