Police say attack at Dusseldorf rail station not terror-related
An axe attack at Dusseldorf’s main rail station has left seven people injured. A 36-year-old man from the former Yugoslavia who suffers from psychological problems has been arrested.
The attack happened at around 21:00 on Thursday when the man “attacked people at random” before injuring himself by jumping off a bridge trying to escape.
No fatalities have been reported, but one person was seriously injured. The motive is unclear, but police are not describing it as terror-related.
Rail traffic at Dusseldorf’s Hauptbahnhof station, which sees a quarter of a million passengers a day, was stopped only temporarily.
