Scandlines to host Nordic “start-up cruise”

Startup Weekend Oresund to sail inspiring seas this weekend
A Scandlines ferry will host the second Startup Weekend Oresund this weekend, setting sail on Friday for a 54-hour cruise designed to empower budding entrepreneurs.
Sailing between Helsingør in Denmark and Helsingborg in Sweden, the cruise has the aim of kick-starting and developing business ideas. The first such trip took place in 2014. This time round, the organisers expect around 80 to 100 attendees.
Startup Weekend Oresund is being marketed as the perfect atmosphere to bring business ideas to life. On the way participants pitch their concepts and assemble teams to bring them to life, using brainstorming sessions, business plan advice and feedback from industry leaders. Finally a panel of experts judges the ideas and declares a winner.
“A boat provides a different atmosphere than the office space we are all too used to. You can’t just leave whenever you want you, but you can take walks out on deck and use the sea air to freshen up your tired mind,” co-organiser Jakub Kowalczyk tells The Local.
“It is an extremely unique working environment, which facilitates what we want to achieve: providing lifetime experiences.”
