It will be Scandic’s eighth airport hotel in the Nordics
Scandic Hotels has signed a deal to establish and operate a new hotel at Helsinki Airport, in a long-term rental agreement with LAK Real Estate, a subsidiary of airport operator Finavia.
Work to complete the 148-room Scandic Helsinki Airport will start this month, with the opening scheduled for the first half of 2018. The company already operates nine hotels in the Helsinki region.
“Helsinki Airport is growing rapidly,” Scandic says in a statement. “Over the past few years, it has become an important hub for flights to Asia and the need for accommodations close to the airport is substantial.”
With five conference rooms, bar and restaurant and a gym with a sauna, the hotel will be located across from the airport about 100 metres from Terminal 2. The property currently houses offices.
It will be Scandic’s eighth airport hotel in the Nordics and the closest freestanding hotel for passengers arriving in Helsinki.
