Scandic to build new airport hotel in Norway

Bergen Airport Flesland is scheduled to open in 2017

Scandic says it will build what will be one of Western Norway’s biggest business and convention hotels. It will be known as Bergen Airport Flesland.

Scheduled to open in April 2017, it will be located beside the new airport terminal in Bergen and within walking distance of what will be a new light rail station. It will include 300 rooms and suites, restaurant, bar and fitness centre.

Conference facilities will consist of more than 25 meeting rooms, the largest being 1,000sqm with capacity for 800 people, as well as an additional large hall of 500sqm.

“There is currently a need for large and efficient meeting and conference facilities in Bergen,” Scandic said in a press release. “Scandic Flesland Airport will meet this need.”

Svein Arild Steen-Mevold, Scandic Norway’s country vice president, added: “With the new airport terminal, Flesland will be an even more important hub in Norway, and therefore this is the right place to build a major new hotel in Norway.”
