Saudi Arabia: Tourism not oil after 2020

Country has great potential for religious tourism
Tourism should be one of the pillars of the Saudi economy after 2020, not oil, Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman has revealed. Saudi Arabia has enormous potential for religious tourism, he stressed, helping the economy ease off its reliance on the black stuff.
Tourist arrivals for the Haj, the smaller Umrah pilgrimage and religious sites can increase from 8 million a year now to 15 million by 2020 and 30 million by 2030, he said.
With this and other measures in the country’s new economic plan, Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom would be able to live without oil by 2020.
The vision will be adopted regardless of oil prices and is unrelated to the low prices currently damaging oil-dependent economies.
