Flights grounded due to striking baggage handlers

Passengers were left angry on Thursday evening as all SAS flights from Copenhagen Airport were grounded because of striking baggage handlers.

It was later revealed that passengers would be flown without their baggage as the strike by SAS Ground Holding employees continued.

“They are flying us without luggage,” one stranded passenger told The Local. “If you don’t fly without luggage, then SAS says you are responsible for your own transportation and hotel – what crap! When they said that, it really set people off. I opted to fly and I just hope that my baggage will arrive before my next flight [from London] to LA on Monday.”

SAS flights were thrown into chaos when 150 people in SAS Ground Handling went on strike over a number of terminated local agreements.

SAS Ground Handling also deals with airlines such as like Lufthansa, LOT, Widerøe and Icelandair, whose operations at Copenhagen Airport is also affected.
